One important thing that many pets are missing from their cute collars are ID tags! These are a MUST for every single pet wearing a collar or harness. If your pet gets lost, you need to have an ID tag to get them back. If the County pound picks them up with no ID, they are a stray and held for a short period of time before put up for adoption or killed.
Iif you are dog walking in Seattle, you need to be walking a dog with a County tag on. Its actually a law!
Please keep your pets safe, its so easy
1) ID tag. You can got to Petsmart, Walmart or order online for cheap! www.simplytags.com is a great website. Put your name, phone number and address.
2) Microchip. Any vet and most rescues will do this. If your pets collar or tag falls of, the microchip is always there! A safe backup!
As a Seattle pet sitter, I see loose dogs and cats on my rounds, I am so happy when I see a tag on them. if I can cath em, I can call those owners right away.
For pets that have no tag, they will go to the vet to be scanned for a microchip. Make sure to update the tag and chip information if you move or change a phone number. If you do not have a backup emergency contact to list on your microchip, ask your pet sitter if they want to be added!
Its up to you as pet owners to keep your fur kiddos safe, its as easy as a tag and microchip!
